Just joined this forum as I need your help with sorting out my scantronic 9651 zone alarm. I noticed your replies to some of the other members of this forum and that's why I thought maybe you could help me.
My system is not quite 7 years old and was installed when the house was built. We have hardly used it at all as we have a dog (with a loud bark) and we don’t have any manuals or instructions and I have no idea if any zones have been configured (to keep the dog’s area out of the alarm zone).
Anyway, about three weeks ago the alarm started beeping to tell us that the battery was low. Even though I tried to cancel this alert message it still repeated every 15 minutes or so. Eventually, don’t ask me how, I managed to get the beeping to stop. It then occurred to me that I have absolutely no idea where in the house they had installed the main control box – which clearly contains the battery. The man who installed it told me that he would pop in about two weeks ago but there has been no sign of him so far.
Last night, the beeper started going off again, but this time with a battery missing message. Somehow this morning at about 7.30 am I keyed my code in yet again and lo and behold it hasn’t beeped at us since. Is there anything that I can do in the short term to stop these alerts and what advice would you give me about changing the battery and/or finding someone who can service/support the system for me?
And the last question may be a stupid one: where in the house do you think the installer may have put the control panel?
I would appreciate any help, advice that anyone can give me.............
