Hi Everyone,

Just come across a Gardtec 500C and it's not one I recognise. I need the engineer and user instructions before attempting to open this panel... usual problem.. they've probably changed the engineer code to start with a 9 and I don't fancy inputting a few hundred combinations to find it.

Thanks

Disabling/replacing sensors without engineer code

I am currently investigating a WiFi problem in a property with a Galaxy 44 alarm fitted.

Using a 2.4 GHz spectrum analyser I can see that some of the alarm's wired sensors are interfering with this, which I believe is because they're also using microwave detection.

The property has changed hands such that the engineer codes are unknown, and there are no obvious marks to show who installed the system. I have been authorised to disable single sensors and/or the entire systems to determine if WiFi performance then improves, but don't know if this is possible given the limited codes available?

Is the only way to stop the sensors using the 2.4 GHz spectrum to physically disconnect them?

If necessary, and it's possible, then it's ok for me to reset everything, including codes, to be able to try this, but it would be preferable to keep as much configuration information as possible because it's not a small system!

Any help or suggestions would be gratefully received!

scantronic 9751 alarm - exit volume

We bought an apartment 2 years ago and were given the user code. To be honest we did not put on our alarm because we had a cat that spent most of his time inside. About a year ago we started getting noises from alarm and tried to contact original installer ( we found his number inside keypad 9930 ) line was dead. To our knowledge alarm was installed 12 years ago. We did not contact original seller as we had a fall out over so called parking rights. My brother give me the name of the person who fitted his alarm. When he came to us which was quick the next evening - he said battery was done and it would have to be replaced. He spent about 45 minutes doing things at the control box and fitting battery -everything ok. We were charged £75.00 We still did not use alarm but unfortunately our cat died in October and in the last few weeks we have heard reports about burglaries in our village. We have started to use alarm but the volume of the exit warning is far to high and lasts about 30 seconds. At 7.30 in the morning I am sure our neighbours are not pleased. I have noticed from user manual that this cannot be adjusted by the user. From checking on the internet you require an engineer code to adjust this - number 45. I have tried the default 7890 but it is invalid. Do I have to get an engineer to do this.

Scantronic 9651 Lid Tamper

Hi, my house is fitted with a scantronix 9651 which the previous owner had fitted.

Earlier today I needed to turn the power off in order to change a light switch. The Last time our power was off for more than 15 minutes the alarm went off and couldn't be stopped as the battery had run out.

I assumed (somewhat stupidly) that inside the alarm box there may be some sort of master switch to disable the alarm so that while I was completing my DIY task the alarm battery wouldn't die setting off the alarm.

Obviously opening the box triggered the alarm and now I can't set the alarm and the panel states 'contact installer'. The error says 'lid tamper'.

Do I need to get an engineer round or is this something I can clear myself?

Thanks
Simon

Galaxy Classic - Ethernet - RSS Code

Hi All,

I own my own Galaxy Classic 500 Panel, with a Honeywell Ethernet module in it.

I have configured this up from defaults (removed battery lever clip with no power, all zones blanked etc) myself.

I use this to send out alarms to a service which then texts me - this all works great.

I also have an app on my phone, so I can use the remote keypad and control the alarm from that - this also all works just fine.

The problem comes however when I try and connect using RSS. I cannot seem to get the correct password - which I had assumed had also been defaulted to the one in the manual.

So, my question to all you experienced Galaxy people, in hope that you can help me out here, am I doing something wrong, does the Remote Engineer code not default with the other codes, or have I not set an option somewhere.

As for the options. I have set the IP of the module, the subnet, and gateway (proved by remote keypad app on phone working) I have set the Account Number, and alarm monitor settings for the remote monitoring server (proved by getting the emails and SMS). What have I done to stop RSS connecting?

Many thanks in advance for any hints, tips, and advice on this one...

Regards

Andy
