I recently moved into a house with a GardTec 593 alarm panel, LCD keypad and bell box which from ground level looks like a eurosec XS3D. I have the master code and the alarm works as expected but would like to get the engineer code by using the "1, 9, Yes, No" procedure as per the manual. I'd also like to do it without the external siren going off for any longer than a few seconds and without climbing up and opening the bell box to disconnect the internal battery. I've studied the installation manual available online and information on this forum and I think the following procedure will work:
- Switch off mains power, open panel and silence tamper alarm using master code.
- Remove the external wire from Bell+ terminal in panel and quickly connect it to the battery positive terminal using a pre-prepared wire jumper link.
- Remove battery positive connector, but not the wire link to the external siren in the previous step.
- Wait for 10 seconds or more then reconnect battery positive connector and within 8 seconds press 1, 9, YES, NO on keypad.
- Wait for <<UN-SET>> display on keypad and engineer and master codes should be at defaults. (Maybe not engineer code if it has been previously locked.)
- Remove temporary wire jumper link and quickly reconnect external wire to BELL+.
- Close panel and reconnect mains power.
I would be grateful for any comments on the above and any possible problems which i may encounter.
