Ademco Microtech Galaxy 8 Plus CP171

I have only just joined this site and would very much appreciate an installation manual for the Ademco Microtech Galaxy 8 Plus CP171. I have recently moved house and installed is the above system. It has been disconnected from ADT monitoring line and the mains fuses removed. I'm an electrician and have checked out all the wiring and reinstated the power. Unfortunately I haven't any codes to disarm the system and would like to reconfigure and set it up to my own requirements. I therefore require the installation/engineers manual and any advice would be great.

In anticipation Thank you

Help with Resetting a Zone Alarm Scantronic 9651

Hi guys

My name is Brian and I am new to this forum. I was wondering if anyone can help me. I am having a problem resetting my alarm in my house. I have a Cooper Menvier Scantronic 9651 alarm system (approx 3 years old). The alarm was set off when we were out yesterday and had since stopped on our arrival home. We are unsure as too what activated the alarm as my parents checked around the outside of the house before we came home and we double checked inside and everything looked fine. We have never had this problem before.

However after we entered the house and keyed in the code to deactivate the alarm we now have a solid red spanner light and a constant flashing message on the display saying "reset required burg zone 2 lounge" and I dont know what to do. We have the engineering code so I was wondering if anyone knows how to reset the alarm? I referred to my instructions but from what I can gather (I am not a great DIYer) that the system needs an engineer reset as the other options are a customer or remote reset and I dont think it is any of them. Needless to say I dont have an engineers manual and have no idea what a call out would cost. I am the second owner of the house so I am trying to source the gentlemans number who fitted the alarm. There is a name and number on the front of the outside box but I thought I would give the forum a try before I try to call.

We had a problem at the beginning of the year with a lid tamper after replacing the battery but between myself and a mate we managed to replace the new battery and reset the engineers code (he is an electrician). Dont ask me now how we did that, I cant recall but I should have wrote it down. Lol! I am also posting this in the Cooper forum. Is there anywhere else I should post it? Sorry for being so long winded but if anyone can help I would really appreciate it.

Regards

Help please - cant turn 'tamper' light off...alarm problems

Hi all

I wonder if anybody could kindly help with the following (by process of elimination I figured this is what I have probably done!) - whilst doing some DIY work, it looks like I might have 'disturbed' the cable that leads to the alarm bell box - I assume the wire had been briefly knocked out of place (or even worst case and hopefully not, sheared!)

This set the alarm to go of like mad and even putting in the user codes did not turn the alarm off, until it decided to quieter down after about 20 or 30 minutes!

The 'tamper' warning light is now constantly on and if I try to arm the system it doesnt let me - the control box just continues to tone away.

I get the impression that inputting an 'engineer code' may allow the system to reset but putting in the default engineer code I found in the installation guide doesn't do anything.

Calling the installers telephone numbers results in dead lines on both landline and mobile, so I can only assume the chap is no longer working or has retired.

Sorry for the long post but anybody able to help with how to reset my control box so the tamper light goes out (as hopefully if was just a simple case of the wire just being knocked out of place, which made the system think it was being attacked)

Many thanks in advance

Oh and my system is the Gardtec 300 series - I think 350 model as that's what the user instructions say (probably about 10/15 years old?)

9452/3 Service Light

Hi,

Our alarm has been playing up recently, going off unexpectedly and issues with the tamper. To counter the tamper we shorted it at the circuit board which did counteract the tamper problem.

To try get the actual alarm to stop going off though we have tried the NVM refresh. We followed the instructions exactly, shorting the RST pins e.t.c

However this doesn't seem to have reset the alarm as the service light is now lit up and the tamper light and a couple of zones now flash despite the tamper being shorted on the circuit board.

Are there any suggestions as to how to proceed or what would be causing the problem.

Many Thanks

Galaxy 2-12 (C012) Manager Reset Required

Hi All

I've search all the forums available for information but haven't found any suitable. We have just bought a new house, which has an ADT alarm, Galaxy 2-12 with an MK7 keypad and proxy tag. The house has been empty for qutie sometime and the fuse had been pulled on the alarm. I managed to get the installation and user manual for it and followed the powering up. Set the date and time etc. It now has various errors and states manager reset required. I'm not sure what to do at this point. The alarm works when you press ENT to continue and then FULL SET. Problem is it randomly goes off then. I've gone to menu 48 and enabled L3 but then not sure what to do. Can anyone help or recommend an engineer in the Leeds area? Cheers.

CHUBB Sentinel CA67 Alarm User Code

NEWBIE can't see prev post so posting again.
Hi,
Could someone help me (pensioner) please.
Chubb Sentinel CA67 all in one panel but HAVE NO User Code.

This CA67 is rebadged Guardal Rascal Super, SECURIT 700L & ACTIVE5.
The mains & Day only LEDs are ON. I have bought the user, engineer manual and HAVE the Engineer Code. The system is in Quiescent mode. PIR detect ok.
Is it possible to:
1. Just test the Eng code only without opening the panel then # to EXIT Eng mode ? HOW TO use tamper to time OUT itself ? 1-1 ?
2. How do I differentiate between accept and reject bleep ?
3. If Eng code is OK then how can I use it to assign new User Code by sw off mains and battery ? If yes, will the programmed zones be affected ?
4. If there is no other option and have to use the, link I can see it in diagram (IF I find it inside) Where is the MEMory DEFault LINK, reset to Default Factory codes? Will the programmed zones be affected ?
Thanks a lot.

Pyronix Paragon Super - Inherited!

Hi

First post - looks like a helpful forum so hope you can help me out!

A bit of background - sorry if I ramble...

I've recently moved into a house with a Pyronix Paragon Super Alarm fitted. Numerous PIRs and at least one door switch fitted (at the front door), and a remote keypad (a Pyronix RKP II) fitted in the entrance hall.

We were told by the previous occupants that they had never used the alarm so long as they had lived there (since late 2009). I have my doubts about this as they have a PIR fitted in a garage conversion which I know they did themselves, but hey ho.

Not knowing whether or not it works but on a tight budget and loathe to pay someone else I thought I'd try to "recommission" it myself.

Opened up the main panel (located on a 3A fused spur in the airing cupboard - pretty standard practice?) and found that there was 230V AC going to the connector block but that the connector block had a space for an integral fuse across the live (phase) connection and that this fuse was missing.

Also, the backup battery (a YUASA 12V 2.8Ah) had its negative terminal disconnected, so someone obviously didn't want this alarm to function! Not sure of the serviceablility of this battery.

There were two glass encapsulated type 1A fuses fitted to the circuitboard which I've removed and have checked are OK.

So, my questions are:

1. What type of fuse and what rating do I need for the connector block where the AC supply comes into the panel?

2. Is the battery I have described the best one to have in there or should I replace it with a different one (a different capacity perhaps)?

3. Presumably when I've got supply going to the circuit - and presuming it works - there'll be an almighty din! I have no idea what the Master, Limited and Engineer codes are so any ideas how I can reset it? (I have downloaded the User manual but it's not helpful in the regard).

4. One last thing - there are two pairs of jumper pins in the middle of the circuitboard but no jumper across them. Is this right?

Thanks

Zorro.

GardTec 593 - Defaulting without external siren sounding?

I recently moved into a house with a GardTec 593 alarm panel, LCD keypad and bell box which from ground level looks like a eurosec XS3D. I have the master code and the alarm works as expected but would like to get the engineer code by using the "1, 9, Yes, No" procedure as per the manual. I'd also like to do it without the external siren going off for any longer than a few seconds and without climbing up and opening the bell box to disconnect the internal battery. I've studied the installation manual available online and information on this forum and I think the following procedure will work:
- Switch off mains power, open panel and silence tamper alarm using master code.
- Remove the external wire from Bell+ terminal in panel and quickly connect it to the battery positive terminal using a pre-prepared wire jumper link.
- Remove battery positive connector, but not the wire link to the external siren in the previous step.
- Wait for 10 seconds or more then reconnect battery positive connector and within 8 seconds press 1, 9, YES, NO on keypad.
- Wait for <<UN-SET>> display on keypad and engineer and master codes should be at defaults. (Maybe not engineer code if it has been previously locked.)
- Remove temporary wire jumper link and quickly reconnect external wire to BELL+.
- Close panel and reconnect mains power.

I would be grateful for any comments on the above and any possible problems which i may encounter.

Second internal sounder for Risco Gardtec 490x

$

I have a Risco Gardtec 490x with a single internal sounder (a Knights Plastics I30).

I want to add a second internal sounder of the same make and model in the garage as I can't hear the present one from there and so sometime accidentally trigger the alarm.

The internal sounder connections are in the main panel on the first floor and I want to install the second sounder on the ground floor on the opposite site of the wall from the present one i.e. right behind it.

It would be a pain to route a second cable from the main panel to the second sounder so I'd rather 'piggy-back' the present one - if it's OK to do that.

Can I do this and - if so - how would I wire it up? This model of sounder has a tamper switch.

The internal sounder terminals on the main panel are marked SPR and SPR+ and the manual says 'internal speakers min 16 ohm'.

The present sounder is marked '16ohm 0-25w'.

Advantage ZX6 Transformer Spec

My Advantage ZX6 panel has popped its clogs, at least its transformer has ! (the primary is o/c so presumably the fuse in the winding blew)
Anyone know what the VA rating and AC output voltage should be so I can get one from Farnell/RS? The transformer is similar in size to another one I have which has a 20va rating and 13 volt, 1.5 amp output. I don't know why the fuse blew although the bell was sounding for quite some time and I have quite a lot of sensors attached. However current draw is less than the 1 amp max specified for the aux output on the panel. The ZX6 panel gets a lot of bad press here and one thing I don't like is the lack of a fuse on the output winding of the transformer, if a diode or capacitor shorts out in the rectifier circuit, the transformer is toast. There are only fuses on the DC output.
I could use the 13 volt transformer, the problem is that if the voltage is too high, the 12 volt reg will have to drop too much voltage and get excessively hot (it does anyway powering all the sensors). Switch mode versions of the popular 7812 and 7805 regulators are available. These are great because they run cool and waste much less energy, but that's another story.........

Galaxy Flex "log 90%" Message

$

Hi,
On the Galaxy Flex, does anyone please know what "log 90%" means? Although it is listed in Appendix B of the Installers manual there is no description with it.

Background:
Coming home and unsetting the alarm, a text message alert was sent "Log 90%". The Bell did not go off, nor did the keypad's own alarm. Just the text message sent. I've looked through the log to see any unusaual event preceeding this one but there is no other event listed other than the expected set / unset events of previous days.

Now, I did experience a "beep" or two last night but I assumed this was batteries running low on a separate smoke alarm but there were only maybe three over the course of the evening (i.e. not every minute as expected) but I did here one or two again this morning. This may be a red herring (as the panel had the usual display when set this morning) or it may pinpoint the fault!

Anyway, the alarm is fine and did not show a warning even though it had been sent by text. It is only by going through the log that the panel itself confirms the logged event.

Thanks in advance.
